The application of Biological Glycolipid
In agricultural production, the large consumption of pesticides and fertilizers resulted in the serious pollution of the soil and water, and the excess of harmful substances of agricultural products. In order to guarantee the safety of agricultural products, it is the development goal to cut down the consumption of pesticides and fertilizers increase their synergy efficiency. At present, there are many methods to solve the problem, and the addition of synergists is one of them.
Biological glycolipid is classified as a water-soluble anion biosurfactant, with multiple functions of reducing interfacial tension, increasing solubility, emulsification, penetration, humectation, etc. Meanwhile, it has fine thermal stability and chemical stability. And at 90℃, it still has good surface property, and can be fully degraded by the microorganisms. For this reason, biological glycolipid is a typical environment-friendly and green product.
Biological glycolipid is an anion surfactant, and as a promising young one in surfactant family, it is a substance of large biological molecules with surfactivity originating from microorganisms. It is insoluble in methanol, chloroform and ethyl ether, and also shows excellent solubility in alkaline aqueous solutions. Comparing with chemical-synthesis surfactants, besides the same functions of reducing surface tension, stabilizing emulsifiable solutions and increasing foams, as biological glycolipid comes from the metabolic activity of microorganisms, it also has incomparable properties and advantages that common chemical-synthesis surfactants possess.
Biological glycolipid as a synergist has achieved the crossover, from chemical synergist to plant synergist, and then to biological synergist.
1) Synergism for Fertilizers:
Biological surfactant used in organic water-soluble fertilizers, it can increase the interacting efficiency of fertilizers, enrich the nutritional ingredients, promote the penetration and absorption of fertilizers in leaves and roots of the crops, chelate micro metal ions and enhance the absorption and utilization of trace elements by the plants. The surface activity of biological glycolipid can enhance the penetration of fertilizer fluids into the plants, and thus reach the goal of increasing solubility and efficiency.
2) Synergism for Pesticides:
As a surfactant with relatively large molecular weight, the self structural features of biological glycolipid determine it has excellent dispersibility and ability to absorb the heavy metals. It can make pesticide fluids better adhering to the surface of the leaves, not easily droping off or drifting, and make pesticide fluid penetrate the soil and plant root, and prevent the occurance of soil-borne diseases and root diseases, with long-term and stable acting effects. The surface activity of biological glycolipid can enhance the penetration of pesticide fluids into the plants, and thus reach the goal of increasing solubility and efficiency.
3) Prevent Pests and Resist Bacteria:
The horny layers of aphids and some other pests are composed of alkane, liposome fatty acid and phospholipid. These substances have lipid-loving property, and they can interact with biological glycolipid, a surfactant with lipid-loving and water-loving groups. Biological glycolipid can damage the horny layers of aphids, and thus suppress the germination of fungal spores and the growth of fungal threads.
